    JOB SUMMARY

    Under the direct oversight of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharm Tech III is APN’s pharmacy technician role for experienced, high performing pharmacy technicians. The incumbent is cross trained in all (or nearly all) of APN pharmacy technician activities. Incumbent, serves as a mentor to employees new to their job role or for those that are underperforming and in need of guidance. In this regard, Incumbent provides one‐on-one training and is a resource to answer questions from less experienced pharmacy technicians.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collects new documents for clinical and billing documents that will expire before patients’ next refill is due.
    • Reminds patients refills on their medications and/or supplies are due and process refills as necessary.
    • Dispenses prescriptions and ship orders to customers.
    • Processes new starts, new orders and refills requiring intervention to completion meaning that the order is clinically appropriate, reimbursable and past due balance and out‐of‐pocket expense for the current order is collected.
    • Verifies insurance coverage for orders being processed in work cells.
    • Contacts current Apria patients to see if they would like APN to provide pharmacy services to them along with the nebulizer Apria provides them.

    Subject Matter Expert (SME)

    • Pharmacy Technician III’s experience and job performance allows incumbent to serve as a subject matter expert for APN projects and as a trainer and mentor for less experienced and underperforming technicians.
    • Conduct one‐on‐one training sessions as assigned by supervisor
    • Serve as resource to less experienced technicians to answer questions on procedural matters.
    • Conduct classroom training sessions for new hires at request of supervisor.
    • Serve as subject matter expert for APN and Apria corporate directed projects.
    • Performs other duties as required.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Education and/or Experience

    • High school diploma or GED
    • 3 or more years of pharmacy or related work experience
    • Apria Pharmacy Network personnel are expected to participate in appropriate continuing education as may be requested and/or required by their immediate supervisor or the company. In addition, APN personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job‐related skills and abilities and attain any and all necessary continue education credits required for job related licenses. All personnel must attend mandatory educational programs.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

    • Ability to apply for and obtain pharmacy technician license in the state in which the APN pharmacy is located.

    • CPHT National pharmacy technician certification a plus

     PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee uses his/her hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch; talk or hear. The employee uses computer and telephone equipment. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision and distance vision. Must be able to travel by plane and automobile (if applicable).

      

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
