    JOB SUMMARY

    The Accounting Supervisor will be responsible for all accounting functions of assigned functional areas. This position includes reviewing and managing areas such as General Accounting, Fixed Assets, Payroll Accounting, etc.  This position will be responsible for the implementation and application of accounting policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Supervises staff during the month-end closing process, including review of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, etc.
    • Performs more complex tasks involved in interfacing reporting systems/accounting transactions into the general ledger.
    • Recommends process improvements to the various systems and initiates corrective action with relevant departments.
    • Leads research and analysis and interfaces with field personnel, financial analysts and/or management to communicate findings.
    • Ensures deadlines and performance standards are established and met. 
    • Maintains and reviews more complex account reconciliations to ensure that all financial transactions are properly accounted for.
    • Prepares/reviews schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
    • Leads special projects, including the preparation of schedules for the external auditors.
    • Performs other duties as required.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • This position supervises all subordinate employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management, hiring, and discipline of subordinate employees within the department.

    Minimum Required Qualifications

    MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    Education and/or Experience

    • Four-year college degree in Accounting/Finance is required.
    • Five years of progressive experience is required.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

    • N/A

     

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

    • Excellent knowledge of US GAAP and SOX.
    • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize.
    • Should be detail oriented with strong analytical skills.

    Computer Skills

    • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Excel spreadsheets (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.).

     

    Language Skills

    • English (reading, writing, verbal).

     

    Mathematical Skills

    • Intermediate level mathematical proficiency, with a strong ability to understand, interpret and develop spreadsheet data.

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (only include Preferred Qualifications if needed)

     

    Education and/or Experience 

    • Previous supervisory experience preferred

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Professional Designations

    • CPA candidate or designation desired.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching above the shoulder.  Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position.
