JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Analyst job is responsible for assisting in promoting safe work practices and safety-conscious culture aimed at prevention and mitigation of injuries, illnesses, violence and other health and safety hazards in the workplace, and compliance with OSHA and related health and safety laws and regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with creating, improving, implementing, and administering corporate safety programs, including but not limited to:  workplace injury/illness prevention, workplace violence prevention, and loss prevention.
  • Assists in promoting safe work practices and a safety-conscious culture aimed at prevention and mitigation of injuries, illnesses, violence, and other health and safety hazards in the workplace, and compliance with OSHA and related health and safety laws and regulations.
  • Promotes awareness of the Company’s safety programs through training, education, and safety alerts and provides guidance to supervisors and employees regarding health, safety, and security-related issues.
  • Provides guidance to the field regarding when and how to retain records, complete forms, and conduct meetings, inspections, and investigation in compliance with corporate safety programs.
  • Conducts periodic audits for compliance with applicable safety-related laws and policies.
  • Reviews security requests, performs threat assessment, and develops and coordinates response plans.
  • Reviews injury/illness reports, analyzes appropriate mitigating and/or preventative safety measures, and follows through with implementing such measures.
  • Trains, educates, and promotes the use of best ergonomic work practices; coordinate ergonomic assessments when needed; and assists with identifying and ordering ergonomic tools and equipment.
  • Assists Apria locations with OSHA recordkeeping, including the maintenance of OSHA logs, material safety data sheets; assists with responding to OSHA complaints and OSHA inspections.
  • Reviews and assesses complaints and reports relating to health-related exposures and/or environmental air quality, assesses risks, develops action plans for prevention or remediation; and coordinates treatment and/or testing when needed.
  • Coordinates loss prevention activities with other departments and outside vendors.
  • Assists with tracking and metrics for safety-related initiatives and related costs.
  • Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.

Minimum Required Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Four-year college degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • At least two years of related experience is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is a stationary position that requires frequent sitting or standing, repetitive wrist motions, grasping, speaking, listening, close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.  It also may require occasional lifting, carrying, walking, climbing, kneeling, bending/stooping, twisting, pulling/pushing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching above the shoulder.  Employees in this position must be physically able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to moderate noise.
